Where are my planes?

Featured Replies

Last week MSFS wanted another update, at 105Gb in size.  Didn't realized until a few attempts and a few days later it appears to be the same update as December 1.12.13.0

Finally got it running again today, but now I only have 2 aircraft in my hanger.  This is the steam version.  Who knows what else is missing.  Anyone know how to remedy and check this?  Very frustrated now to the point of stripping it off my system and be done with it.

Hope this don't happen every update, thanks will check it out.  Everything else seems ok as for first flight in SFO area.

OK i went to that help page and it describes my problem.  Tried deleting the installleadpackagespath ...AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages line (steam version) and on restart, the game still had only those 2 aircraft and it rebuilt that line of code back in that usercfg file.  So, I modified the line to AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator and when I restarted it wanted to to an update at 105GB which was the initial problem, so I browsed to /packages and it started, again with only 2 planes.  Run out of time now, this is going to take some more digging tomorrow.

Ok managed to get at it for a bit (got a break from schedule).  Read a few different other comments, so as a result I am just downloading all the planes again.  Sheese, going to need a petabyte drive in a few more months.   However, I think (not sure) I know what caused the 'update' to download in the first place.  I had a few CTD instances and was running through some other posts here about things to check.  One of them, for the steam version, was to verify files.   Wondering now did that change the usercfg file to a default, thereby rendering all my downloads invisible.  Looked like it wanted to do the same thing when I changed that path to test.  Reading (other posts, this forum) on this issue I stumbled across a comment to never use steam to verify files.  Not sure if that is what happened, but I won't do it again unless I am sure.  Hopefully after these downloads it will all work out, because I don't get a lot of time to 'fly', so I don't want ot fool with too much of this stuff.  Thanks.

My impression is the Steam verification is a bit like those "reset windows to new" options some PCs offer that reset the game back to some distant point in the ancient past before any updates or changes.  Regardless, it is bad do not use it.
