Opinions on gtx1660 super

Featured Replies

I am configuring a new system for MSFS and have read a lot of good reports on this card (particularly the MSI Gaming version).  Although I wiil be initially running at 1080p, I am thinking ahead and wonder how the card would perform at 1440p.  I will likely pair it with an i5 10600 CPU.  Can anybody share their experience?

Related probably stupid question:  would I be better off at 1080p on high settings  or 1440p on medium?

Thanks,

Ph

I've been using the Galax 6gb 1660 Super for about 8 months, leading up to the release of MSFS 2020, couldn't afford the 2080 or 3080 series but after reading some positive reviews and Youtube unboxing decided on going for the 1660 Super. My previous was a 3gb 1060. I use the 1660 with prepar3d v4.5 -  settings med/high and with MSFS 2020 high/ultra. The 1060 gave me stuttering and mediocre performance in P3dv4 but with the 1660 I get none of this and enjoy long haul flights with great visuals and performance. In FS2020 this is replicated and have some pretty high settings. My system is a i7- 4790K @ 4ghz nil OC and 32g ram - not a high end machine but more than enough to get trouble free flights in both SIM formats, your i5-10600 should handle it well.

You won't be disappointed with the 1660 Super.
