December 15, 200619 yr I read the trackIR review at Gizmos for Geeks. It said you can choose on option to lock the mouse to the nearest control switch so you are not "chasing it" with TrackIR enabled. Will someone please explain how to set this option? Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 15, 200619 yr I believe that's the trackIR pausing command (F9) which pauses trackIR in vc view so you can hit the switches on the panel. Once you hit a switch, you can unpause it (F9) and continue flying.Best regards,Jim
December 15, 200619 yr Author Thanks for the reply.I do that now.The way it was written made it seem like there was a "magic" assignment I was missing.I use the precision and pause buttons to set the autopilot etc. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 15, 200619 yr Author Here is the excerpt from the review.Makes it sound like there is an option to lock on somehow."trying to use the mouse to flip a switch on the Flight Sim Virtual Cockpit can occasionally be challenging as there is a natural tendency to keep turning your head to track the mouse movement, putting the pointer still farther from the switch! This can be alleviated by using options to make the mouse lock to the nearest control switch though."Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 16, 200619 yr Hmmm.... I seem to recall reading a post here on the boards one time that described doing something like that, but I could be wrong. Try the search feature...It's also possible that the reviewer made a mistake or described it poorly.--Mike
December 16, 200619 yr Again, I think this is the "Pause" feature. Instead of using the F9 key to Pause, you can change that hotkey to your Mouse. I believe some use the center scrolling wheel on their mouse to pause the action. That way you already have the mouse in hand, move over to the switch you want to turn on/off, hit the center wheel key, flip the switch, hit the center wheel key, and you're off into the wild blue skies (hopefully).Best regards,Jim
December 16, 200619 yr I use the same system Jim mentions Ron.Assign the pause key (F9) to the scroll wheel of the mouse.Move head so you can see the control you want to change, press the scroll wheel down and the view is frozen, change the setting then press the scroll wheel again and the view is unfrozen and TIR works as normal.
December 16, 200619 yr Author Thanks for the info.I learn something everyday in thhese forums.I didn't realize the scroll wheel had a button feature too.Duh.Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
