December 17, 200619 yr How do we move around the outside of an aircraft to view it from all angles as we did in FS9?All I am able to view are the left wing, the right wing and the tail.Cliff
December 18, 200619 yr If you have the Deluxe edition of FSX, you will find the Camera Configuration SDK in the Core Utilities Kit. This gives you all the information you need to define your own camera views. If you don't have the SDK's, then start by looking in the aircraft.cfg file. Also the Cameras.cfg file that's inC:Documents and SettingsYOURUSERNAMEApplication DataMicrosoftFSX (winXP).

Spot mode works just the same as it does, but by pressing "A" you cycle through other sub-view modes like locked spot and locked view. It sounds like you are describing the locked views.
December 18, 200619 yr Brian; He can used the "Locked Spot" view ok and still circle the plane...at least I can. It sounds like the spot view is being omitted as he cycles thru, Ihad that problem in the first demo, but I can't remember what I did tocure it.......Old Timers Disease:-zhelp :-badteeth Denny Retired Professional Tourist
December 18, 200619 yr Sounds like you are cycling through the AIRCRAFT.CFG defined external views. The view/camera system has changed completely in this version and there are many more views available. To quickly get to one of the SPOT view modes, you can right click on the 3D window and you will get a list of all the available view modes (including views to watch other aircraft - AI or Multiplayer). The order of items in this context menu can also help to understand how the 'S' and 'A' keys work. The 'S' key cycles through the top level menu items on the upper part of that context menu - Cockpit, Outside, Tower, Runway, Aircraft, Air Traffic. The 'A' key cycles through the sub menu items within the active top level menu mentioned above (so if in Cockpit, 'A' would cycle through Cockpit, Virtual Cockpit, Right Seat, Radio Stack, Light Switches [for the Cessna 172); if in Outside, 'A' would cycle through Spot, Locked Spot, Fly By, Top Down; etc). Pressing SHIFT with either 'S' or 'A' will cause the camera system to cycle in the reverse direction (so 'S' would go Cockpit, Outside, Tower, Runway, Aircraft, Air Traffic; and SHIFT-S would go Cockpit, Air Traffic, Aircraft, Runway, Tower, Outside).Once you are in one of the SPOT modes, the same keys should be available for moving around in spot mode.Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
December 18, 200619 yr Also, in spot view, the same keys for freeview using the mouse also function.Allcott
December 18, 200619 yr Oh yea, I completely forgot about the Mouse Look mode (press and hold SPACE while moving the mouse with the default key assignments). Good catch.Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
December 18, 200619 yr Thanks to you, Tim, and all of you who tried to help me.The right click in the window offering the drop down menu solved the problem.I'm grateful.Cliff
