Simple explanation.

Some anti-virus like Avast occasionally suspect "mce.exe" because it cannot analyze it (It's called false positive). The major AVs don't do that. Not Microsoft nor Norton, just the other Avs that are competing for attention with free versions hoping they can impress you with "findings" to go for the payware version.

Go to the vault and restore any file in quarantine so that the desktop MCE icon can fire the relevant executable.

There are other things mostly linked to protection system which I won't go into in this thread for obvious reasons.

You know i feel a little bit bad about the interaction we have had here, I think we should start over. I was very frusterated that this software just up and stopped working, it happened right after asobo rolled out their wonderful flap breaking patch a few weeks ago, and never started up again (Im on the steam version). After completely wiping my pc and re-installing windows mce is working again. I am still having issues with him responding to his own call-outs in a loop, but im willing to relegate that to a hardware issue with my headset, i will get a new headset in the coming weeks and try that again.

Long story short I didnt make any of these issues up, and to resolve them i had to go to the extreme of wiping my pc. mce now starts up again and runs (minus being unusable for me with the feedback loop that seems to be happening, but thats not a problem with the program.)
