Traffic package, which one to get?

Featured Replies

I'm willing to buy an add-on traffic package for FSX but i don't know which one is best. I used to have MyTraffic with FS2004 but i was not that satisfied with it so i'm a bit reluctant to buy the FSX version. Is Just Flight's Traffic better?Or are there any others out there?

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base & hegykc MFG Crosswind modded pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S for VR

As far as I was able to judge from the screenshots of the various packages, the aircraft models always leave something to be desired. Thus I built my own traffic for FS9 with the help of PAI, AIA, FSP and all the ai flightplans at the avsim library. It was a tedious job, however, and I am still reluctant to copy everything over to FSX.But I installed all the great WOAI packages recently and I like them. Of course, WOAI has only a limited number of airlines and you don't get those completey crowded skies like in the payware packages. But it's freeware and great stuff. So maybe you will want to try this before trying another payware package.Apart from this, the general problem is that there are no FSX specific ai aircraft on the market yet, either freeware or payware, so you will be stuck with some shortcomings like black textures in the distance no matter which option you choose. I guess, this will have changed a year or so from now on ;)I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, but I hope this helps anyway. :)Greetings from GermanyAlex

The first one I tried was World of AI and it works fine; the only problems being lots of go arounds for the AI Traffic and not many routes. I also have MyTraffic X which works fine too but requires editing an XML file in FSX which I had no problem with but if your not comfortable doing that I would steer clear of it. The aircraft graphics aren't that great but the plus side is they are easy on framerates. I finally settled on Traffic 2005 and find that on my particular machine I get a good amount of traffic at 50% with minimal impact on framerates EXCEPT at the LARGE graphic intensive airports. Hope this helps Craig
