Steering Lock Will Not Disable

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently updated my Win10Pro system to Ver 20H2 along with the KB4023057 quality update. Now my LJ35 will not disenage its nose wheel steering lock. When the plane is ready to taxi, and after pressing the Steering Lock button on the center pedistal, the 'Steer Lock' annuciator light turns on for a second and then automatically turns off. I get the same result when holding the MSW switch o the yoke. I've tried from it from Cold & Dark and Ready to Start states. Trying to taxi is out of the question.

I've tried uninstalling FSW-LJ35a and re-installing it with the latest version downloaded from FSW's store without success. Any help is very much appreciated.

I'm running P3DV4.5-HF3 and FSW LJ35a ver4.3.c, add-ons include ChasePlane, UTL and Orbx scenery. My PC is i7-7700K, GTX1070, 32GB RAM.

Thanks,

Falcon64

Hi Falcon64,

I am running the same Win10 Pro system as you with the Lear v4.3c. If I hold in the orange MSW button on the yoke, the Steering On light does come on and stay on as long as I hold the switch in. Likewise, clicking on the center pedestal Steer Lock switch also turns on the Steer On light. Of course, all this when the speed is below about 45 knots.

I suggest you first try deleting all saved L35 flights, if you have any, to see if that solves the problem. If not, I would next try temporarily disabling all add-ons and if this solves the steer lock problem, then add the add-ons back one at a time to identify where the conflict is.

I don't recall this particular problem having been reported previously, so my initial thought is that there is a conflict unique to your setup somewhere.

PS. Does Falcon64 happen to refer to the Air Force Academy in any way?

Hi Al,

Thanks for the speedy reply and help. I followed your recommendation and removed all my saved flights including my default MooneyAcclaim, ie LM's by Lionheart Creation, senario.  P3D then loaded the their default F22 Raptor as the default and that fixed the problem. Both the steering lock button on the pedistal and the white button on the yoke now work. It appears the problem was the MooneyAcclaim as my default plane. I've been using it for my default for years without a problem. I did do an update P3D ver 4.5 HF3 Content along with the Client component last month, so maybe that what cause the problem.

Regarding 'Falcon64', its from my last name, Faulconer, which are people that raise falcons for hunting for the royals in old times, 64 was my age when I retired and started flight simming.

Thanks again for help.

Best regards, Falcon64.

Glad you got things working well. Myself and others have found that using the default F-35A as the default save flight has solved a number of problems. Seems to do a good job of initializing the sim variables before a complex a/c is loaded.
