Having a strange issue with nosewheel, Xtreme Lear25

Featured Replies

Whenever I taxi, the wheel wants to turn hard right. I can get the wheel to straighten up if I work the rudder full left. I have checked assignments, and the only axis assigned to the rudder is the regular rudder axis of my T1600M setup. And that isn't the problem, because if I get the plane in the air, the rudder does not deflect right when the axis is centered - it behaves exactly as it should, so it's as though the nosewheel is disconnected from the rudder and has a mind of its own. If I load another plane, it taxis normally, so it's only the Lear that does this.

Another point of info is that it does this whether nose wheel steering is on or off. It's been awhile since I've flown this particular jet, but I don't recall any system that would cause this behavior. Anyone know what might be going on?

Yep. None of that goes on until I'm in the air.

I ended up deleting and then reinstalling the plane and the problem went away, so maybe a file had gotten corrupted somehow.

Are any of you flying this aircraft in 4K? I have bad stuttering at some airports with Dynamic Lighting enabled. The lights have a big impact on GPU usage and I've stopped turning them on to keep fps at 30.

I can taxi out at LGRP (Rhodes) and fps is fine but as soon as I turn onto the runway the GPU Usage hits 100% and fps cannot reach 30. As soon as the wheels leave the ground 30fps returns and GPU usage drops significantly.

I've reported it to the support but they only tested it at default airports where everything is fine. It's fine at most like all the UK2000 series. Maybe a runway texture issue.

Not here. I run 4 monitors and am way to cheap to upgrade them to 4k! 😄

I'll have to steal the VR set back from my wife, if I can drag her away from Beat Saber for 3 minutes, and see what it does, since that's 4k.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you flip the taxi light off? I've seen strange behavior from that one.

@eslader, thanks, would appreciate hearing how it goes for you. I’m going to test tomorrow with all nav lights off. The taxi, strobe and landing lights are killers but it’s linked to being lined up on some runways. Taxiing from the apron was smooth.

There’s a lighting update on their website. Whether this addresses this particular problem, I don’t know.

Go it installed and sadly it doesn’t.

I finally snuck the VR set away from my wife. I didn't notice any stuttering that I don't experience in any other given plane/scenery area while using VR, whether the lights were on or not. Could it be your card or drivers?  I'm on a 1080Ti with the latest drivers, for reference.

@eslader, we’re not comparing like with like. I don’t use VR so cannot set my system up to mirror yours.

This problem requires three things to manifest itself...

1) 3840*2160 resolution

2) Xtreme Learjet 25

3) Certain airports that cause the problem. Not all do. Two that I have discovered are LGRP and Orbx LEBB. Do you have LEBB.

It helps to have RTSS running so you can see the GPU load when lights on the Lear are turned on and you line up on the runway. VRAM usage hits 100% thereby causing an overload and the stuttering starts.

Its not a driver issue as it’s happened on v4.5 and 5.1 with this aircraft and different drivers.
