December 28, 200619 yr Have any of you tried the "win a six in 06" Cherokee Six yet that justflight made for AOPA? I just downloaded it from AOPA and wow what a great plane. If you have followed the rebuild of that plane in the magazine then you will know what an amazing machine they turned it into. Now we get to fly it, virtually of course but still. What a dream to fly. Now if only i could win the real plane! ;)
December 28, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hmmm... So JustFlight made it? Gee... I am confused, I thought we did. :-) Regards,Jim RhoadsFlight1
December 28, 200619 yr Haha my bad if that's the case! I could have sworn it said justflight. Sorry about that. Anyway kudos because this thing rocks! This even beats my beloved eaglesoft xl2 as my favorite GA addon now. Can't wait for the fsx version.
December 28, 200619 yr Commercial Member No problem. I am glad you are enjoying it.Also.. I don't believe we promised an FSX version of this aircraft.Regards,Jim Rhoads
December 28, 200619 yr Hey Astrodave,Thanks for the info but think you should have posted it in the FS9 forum instead as the aircraft was made only for FS9. I remember it being announced in the FS9 forum when it was first released so it may be old news there but new flight simmers may not have gotten the word. I still have FS9 installed on my system and use it occasionally but enjoy discovering new things in FSX. I am amazed though with FS9 as my FPS suddenly increased considerably and now I'm flying at 50-60 FPS instead of 30-40 FPS before I installed FSX. I'm guessing it's newer video card drivers that's doing that. Happy New Year!Best regards,Jim
December 28, 200619 yr Commercial Member Also if I might add... This is for AOPA members only.Regards,Jim Rhoads

An update optimized for the just-released Microsoft Flight Simulator X is anticipated at a later date."This would go great in FSX. ;)
December 29, 200619 yr Commercial Member That must be a typo.Sorry, one free title per platform is about all of we are willing to foot. Unless of course you might be interested in making a few house payments for about 5 of us. :)However, we might spin out an enhanced 6X from F1 if you are willing to pay for it. Similar to what we did with the Commander.Best,Jim
December 29, 200619 yr I'm an AOPA member and downloaded the Win a Six. I have some real time in a Cherokee Six also. I think Flight1 did a great job with it. It is fun to fly. I do wish there was an FSX version.
December 29, 200619 yr Heck yeah i would pay for an fsx version if you arent going to offer an upgrade like the aopa site says. The plane is pretty awesome. I have no problems paying devs for addons if they are good. I spent about 30 minutes lastnight trying to figure out why the autopilot wasnt working until i realized it had a power switch that wasnt turned on! Doh..The only problem i am having with the plane is that its so much larger than the planes i usually fly and i am having visibility problems out the front so landings are a little hard.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 @ 893Mhz | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 575/900 | Seagate 2x 320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW
December 29, 200619 yr Commercial Member Like I said, it is an obvious typo. Looks like I may have to bring that to somebodys attention. :-) One commonly un-noticed feature of the AP in this airplane is that it emulates GPSS steering. If you have an approach or Flight plan loaded in the GPS, you will see it anticipate the next waypoint and turn prior to reaching it. No overshoots. We worked with S-Tec for feature accuracy. I would dare say that from a logic standpoint, you probably won't find any other 55X as real in FS. But then again, I am always surprised at the great talent in the FS world. We will most likely be selling this as a standalone in the near future just as we have with our Century Triden unit.Jim
December 29, 200619 yr Well i would purchase it for fsx, especially if you add more liveries. Please keep the cockpit the same though because that cockpit for the win a six is superb. I followed the rebuild of that plane in the magazine and on the site and my jaw dropped with drool when i saw them wire that dash up. :) You guys did a superb job of recreating the plane. I was comparing the details lastnight from pics on their site and it is spot on down to the yellow cross stitch on the seats. The autopilot is awesome and the GPSS feature is excellent if only i knew how to actually do instrument approaches....I would love someone to show me how to do them, but me and everyone i know locally are just casual vfr simmers.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 @ 893Mhz | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 575/900 | Seagate 2x 320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW
