Can't run demo - trial period expires immediately

Featured Replies

I'm trying to get the demo to work to check MCE out. I've installed it as suggested but it won't let me launch it because it says the trial period is over, when it's not. It's been less than 24 hours since the first try and I haven't even run it once because I wasn't able to. Something is blocking the start up here.

Any ideas?

Hello threegreen

Sorry to hear your Demo didn't go smoothly. I can assure you there is definitely a Demo that is supposed to last for 3 days or 30 runs whichever expires first.

It hasn't been reset for years. Therefore if you tried a much older version years ago and didn't format main drive since, you'd be locked out immediately.

Other things that can interfere with Demo, you may have too strong security which prevents software checking things to make sure it's not compromised.

Just to make sure you're all setup.

Un-install MCE via Windows Control Panel.

Manually delete <Multi Crew Experience> installation folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\ (if still there).

Simulators can be installed anywhere and no files are modified in "Prepar3D v5" "Prepar3D v4" or FSX installation folders. Not even "panel.cfg" files as MCE runs mostly outside the simulator process for better stability of the latter. Only things that absolutely need to run inside the sim do.

For the sake of the Demo, install MCE to default path (C:\Program Files (x86)\Multi Crew Experience\ folder

Restore MCE to factory settings.

Windows menu Start-><Multi Crew EXperience->Restore factory settings.

Next, don't run the sim.

Start MCE and a different app called the wizard should run instead.

Are you able to go through the wizard without issues?

Hello, thanks for the reply. I will try this tomorrow and report back.

I've done exactly as you described, but it still won't let me launch the program. I can go through the wizard without issues, but after that, when trying to launch MCE, I keep getting the "trial period is over" message. I've also turned off my anti virus program for the time being to be sure. Installed into the default suggested folder and also turned off UAC.

It's unfortunate, the Demo can sometimes err on the side of caution.

One thing is sure, since wizard went smoothly, you have all the pre-requisites to run this software.

Your signature shows PMDG 737 & FSL A320.

Not only those above planes are fully supported (in addition to many others), but you can organize crew opeartion as per your real world or virtual airline SOPs and custom own airline checklist to match. FO will also dial HDG, ALT VS even in FsLabs planes (no other add-on can do that).

It is a "Fully interactive crew simulation", not a "scripted adventure". You can order Fo to perform what you want, when you want and even using own verbiage if you want.

You could give it a miss now and try again the next time you have a chance to format C drive.

One thing is sure, it is guaranteed to work.

If for some unforeseen reason, we cannot get it to work ourselves via a remote desktop support session, a refund is guaranteed.

Happened only once in 10 years 😛

To un-install, go to Windows Control Panel, add remove programs and remove the software.

Next time you start P3D, fsInsider64.dll which is still loading in P3D, will automatically delete <MCE dlls> folder. It will unload itself and remind you to delete it.

Go to \Prepar3D v4ORv5\ folder and manually delete fsInsider64.dll

After that, you're basically back to your original \Prepar3D v4ORv5\ installation folder.

Sorry once again.

I've purchased the program. I'm now going through the activation process and used the licenser tool to generate the registration text file. When I open that file however, none of what I typed into the tool (name, serial number, etc.) is in the text file. It only contains the machine ID. This surely isn't correct? Am I supposed to fill it out manually instead and then send it via email?

I have to say the activation process is rather cumbersome.

Welcome aboard.

Should have received an e-mail with instructions on how to proceed.

Sorry about that.

You could have run the "Licenser.exe" tool as admin.

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Multi Crew Experience\ folder.

Fill-out "Registration.txt" and send it to register[XX]multicrewxp.com  (replace XX withh @ )

Right, I didn't think of that. Just sent the email, thank you.

Well, it's activated now but I'm now running into another issue. MCE won't connect to P3D. It displays the initial window saying that it's trying to connect to the simulator, before I get a message saying it couldn't connect and I should check if fsinsider64.dll is in the P3D main folder, which it is. Both P3D and MCE are being run with full admin rights and I'm launching P3D first, either to the menu or to the aircraft sitting on the runway, then MCE. It's installed into the default suggested path (program files (x86)) with UAC off.

No worries.

You don't need to switch UAC off. Default 2 notches up the slider is fine. Install MCE to default path. Simulators can be installed anywhere and may not even need to be run as admin.

You need to download the newest fsInsider64.dll as an issue has surfaced recently with P3D V5.1

Grab it here

Unzip and replace the dll in \Prepar3D v5\ installation folder.

Now, for P3D to load the dll on startup, there should be a refernce to it in "dll.xml". Normally, the wizard automatically edits the file, but sometimes when users override folders permissions,Windows may deny the operation

Go to C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed MartinPrepar3d v5\ folder and open "dll.xml" using Notepad.

Ensure you have these entries.

<Launch.Addon>
        <Name>Multi Crew Experience</Name>
        <Disabled>False</Disabled>
        <ManualLoad>True</ManualLoad>
        <Path>fsInsider64.dll</Path>
    </Launch.Addon>

If missing, manually add them to the file right before the last line. Theis line

</SimBase.Document>

Because of this, <ManualLoad>True</ManualLoad> ,...

next time you start P3D, it should prompt you to allow the dll to load. Make sure you accept.

If everything goes to plan, when P3D is up and running, aircrfaft on tarmac ready to fly, could start MCE using the P3D menu <Addons->Multi Crew Experience->call the crew

Works fine now, thanks!

You're welcome. Enjoy!

There is more than meets the eye.

You can educate co-pilot to understand your habits, as well as your own natural speech. For real world pilots, even get him to read own airline QRH for recurrent training.

This is how you build tasks for Fo to perform, and triggered using a single custom speech command.

It's the closest you can get to "shared cockpit", without the struggle of finding someone to share a lengthy session with you. FO is type rated on many, many planes and the most popular ones are covered.

I'm using MCE with the CS 757 III. As far as I can see, there are procedures already for other aircraft but not for this one. Is this how I set up power up, preflight, before start, etc. procedures for any aircraft I want?

Please go to \My Documents\Multi Crew Experience\Myvoicescripts\Copilot\Aircraft\ folder

You'll find many folders containing pre-made flows for various supported planes. For some planes we didn't bother to ship pre-made flows, but you could make your own. You don't need to create flows for the most popular planes though.

The CS 757 should have its own folder with a name based on how the aircraft folder is named in <SimObjects> folder.

Normally, when you run the wizard, it creates all those folders. But there are rare occasions when this doesn't happen because folders permissions have been altered. In that case could copy and paste them from MCE installation folder

C;\Program Files (x86)\Multi Crew Experience\Support\Files\Voicescripts\ folder. (these are backup flows, just in case)

You could copy flows from one variant to another. Even from 767 to 757 as they are a bit similar.

Once they are in the relevant folder, they will appear in MCE Voxscript interface when the plane they apply to is loaded.

Note: the pre-made flows aren't realistic and that's intentional.

The idea is to show you the kind of speech commands you could use to control a particular item. Fo switches all items in overhead panel and he does that loudly by default.

Switch "Verbose" option OFF for silent execution, then edit each flow to share the workload as you see fit (as per own airline SOPs or other). Select item you want to handle yourself and remove it from the flow. Or add other things for FO to do if they aren't there.

If you find it challenging to memorize the trigger sentence, rename the flow to any trigger sentence that comes to you naturally.
