Having a frustrating time trying to get a combo working

Featured Replies

On the latest version of AAO for MSFS. On my T16000 joystick, I would like to use the trigger as a Combo with the hat switch to use the hat to move my eyepoint around the cockpit (not pan). I'm not able to get this to work.

First, the combo doesn't work - if I press Hat Up without the trigger held down, it still activates. "Suppress key event" isn't checked.

Second, even though AAO sees Hat Up being pressed, nothing happens in the sim, even though I've assigned the combo to "EYEPOINT_UP".

Third, I've tried the combo on a totally different button (one of the ones at the base of the stick) and while AAO recognizes the combo correctly, it again doesn't trigger the event in the sim.

All of the buttons I've referenced have been unassigned in the MSFS controls menu. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Alex,

the view commands in MSFS, while documented in the SDK, are non-functional. All of them are there in SimConnect, and they don't throw an error - but they also do nothing.  This has been the case since the MSFS Alpha.

The only thing that works currently is either assigning them in MSFS itself or using the "Virtual Key" option in AAO to send a simulated keypress to the sim, triggering the camera movement.

Ok, thanks. I can't get virtual keys working, either... I press the green light and press a key but it doesn't register, it just keep saying "None." Do you know what could be going on?

When you click on the LED of the "Virtual Key", the controller isolation combobox below should switch to "Keyboard" - make sure that it does
