Fs9 weather settingd

Featured Replies

Hi

Im still using fs9 because of the aircraft im using which is the cessna 172 learner which has digital gauges (not available on FSX)

My problem is setting cloud layer. For instance set to overcast and a base layer of 800 feet tops of 10000.

Approach the airport with a mile visibility and I cant see the runway till I get below 300 feet and by then its too late.

Any explanation would be welcome.

Thanks

By rule of 3:

if you want to see runway around 800' , visibility should be set at 3 miles.

Hi

I understand that but surely once ypu drop below 800 you should at least see the ground below. I see nothing but cloud till 300 feet.

It's an old technology, not so reliable to real life.

That's the way they managed to reproduce low visibility. So no matter how high you set  the cealing if visibility is set to, for example 2 miles you will see the runway at 600 feet, 1 mile to 300, 3 miles to 900, etc.
