Breeze Airways E195 Inaugural Flight...

Featured Replies

The pandemic seems not the best time to start an airline, but the Breeze Airways is trying to prove the contrary. The new startup (LCC) airline, established by the founder of JetBlue (and also of Azul Brazilian Airlines), started operations, 4 days ago, on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from Tampa (KTPA) to Charleston (KCHS), for its inaugural flight. The airline has, for now, put into service three Ex-Azul E195 Embraer Jets, and the airline is code-named "Moxy".

Here is the data about the (RW) flight that landed, a few hours ago, today, (31-MAY-2021).

Airline: Breeze Airways "Moxy"
ORIG/DEST: TAMPA, FL (TPA) -> Charleston, SC (CHS)
Flight No.: Breeze Airways 100 (= MXY100)
Departed: 10:26AM EDT / Arrived: 11:27AM EDT (Note: 1hr 1min was the total travel time.)
Altitude Filed: 31,000 ft
Aircraft Type: EMBRAER 195 (twin-jet) (E195)
Distance: Actual 425 mi
Route: BAYPO9 CAMJO Q109 HEPAR SAV BAGGY2

[Note: I've included, below, a screenshot of the SimBrief output, sourced from the RW Flightaware flightplan, the route being pretty much directly up north first, and then northeast.]

So, please find, below, a (virtual) Embraer 195 (symbolically) lifting off for a flight between the same two destinations. The inaugural flight E195 operated as flight MX1. MX, the airline’s IATA code, appears to rhyme with Moxy (its ICAO code is MXY). The (RW) aircraft, with tail number N190BZ, was part of the Azul Linhas Aereas fleet, where it operated under the registration (PR-AUB), until 2019. Please note the tail number of the (virtual) E195, seen, below, is identical to that of the RW E195.

Bits of interesting notes on the (striking) all-blue livery:

"Its now-unveiled livery is all-blue, using three different tones, from bright to dark blue. The branding is stylized with a “check mark” above ‘ez’, which can also be found on the tail and winglets of the aircraft (please see images). Its appearance is quite different from common airline liveries, as it completely left out widely-used white."

"The livery was always going to be blue because this color is a trademark of Neeleman. It’s been billed as his lucky color, being used on the livery of the likes of Azul and JetBlue over the years. So, the serial entrepreneur had said, "you can choose any color provided that the best color is blue.”"....🙂....

Hope, you enjoy these few pictures of this newborn (blue) airline, taking to the (blue) skies, for the first time.....(so, best to it...)...!! Thanks for your interest...!

Thanks, Alaska738....!!

And, I believe you're bit of a fan of Azul too...🙂...(e.g."AZUL at SBDN"...I looked up just now...🙂...)...So, I hope, you enjoy the pictures below...

Folks:

I'd shown, above, pictures of a freeware (AI) model of (the new airline livery) Breeze Airways E195 (Reg. "190BZ"; Ex-Azul "PR-AUB"). Here, I thought, it would be of interest, to supplement it with a few additional screenshots, including (E195) interior [VC] shots, of another Azul E195 (Reg. "PR-AUA" i.e this ID is just previous to the Ex-Azul E195 ID "PR-AUB", used on Breeze's inaugural flight). This SIM, here, is from feelThere.

Breeze Airways plans to use Embraer E190s/E195s (including three Ex-Azul E195s) for short-haul routes, and, for long-haul, their Airbus A220s (though, the A220 (actualy the former Bombardier CSeries) would be really considered a bit more than just a typical "RJ", and more like a mainline airliner).

These images, below, pick up from Altitude 31,000 ft (cruise level of the RW flight, cited above), and then progressing to a touchdown at Charleston, SC, (KCHS), ILS Rwy 33, from the south, over the Atlantic Ocean (see shots). In the 2nd shot below (of PFD/ND), the plane is about to reach TOC/FL310, and making a slight right-bank from WPT WILON towards the next WPT CAMJO.

Embrarer E195 is an interesting and capable plane. In our SIM, many of us would surely recall, there were a few excellent freeware models of E195. However, unlike the CRJ, the ERJ has not received much attention, in payware simulation. And, now, with (original) CRJ production at the end of its line, it's the latest E195 variant (E195-E2) that remains positioned to compete directly with Airbus A220.

Breeze Airways made me recall of this feelThere E195, a payware SIM, I've used before, and been aware of, but, have not now touched in a year or two. So, today, I jump-started this E195 SIM, in an attractive Azul livery (see below), for this addendum, to my post. The SIM, I realized, is a nice and enjoyable one. It has dual FMSs in the [VC], simulated with reasonable complexity, per my limited awareness, (including, I found, e.g. allowances for input of SID/STAR procedures and SPD/ALT constraints for VNAV etc.). The PFD looks neat too (and colorful...🙂...)...with clear annunciations on top of the PFD (please see several close-up shots, I've included below). Auto-throttle did its job. LNAV, too, worked perfectly, after I loaded the (RW) Breeze E195 flightplan into the FMS. I also tested VNAV, for a BOD of 4,000 ft, to a user-defined (Place/Bearing/Distance) WPT, 25 nms away from Charleston VOR (CHS), along the Rwy extension (the custom WPT, seen, below, as "PBD01" on the ND and FMS FPL page). The TOC/TOD markers, correctly, showed up, on the ND FPLN Route, as expected, and, with VNAV enabled, the plane, on its own, initiated auto-descent, from the Cruise altitude of 31,000 ft, honoring my preset SPD/ALT (180/4000) BOD constraint, surprisingly well (see screenshot of crossing PBD01). Notice also, in a couple of B2B shots, how, the VPATH annunciation has changed to (purple) VASEL, and the preset BOD altitude (4000) has changed color to Yellow,...small, but, pleasing (in-flight) observations, to this non-pilot mind...🙂...

The Flightaware (flight) distance was reported as follows: Actual (425 miles); (Planned) 414 miles
My input Flightplan showed 356 nm (= 410 miles). So, overall, it was a short and sweet and (nearly) "automated" flight...

Hope you enjoy these pictures (13 more to complete my quota of 20...🙂...) of this well-regarded (and popular) Embraer plane, and, after all, an RJ, rarely seen around here.

Thanks for viewing...!!
