June 6, 20215 yr After I load a flight plan (usually imported from Simbrief), then I am on my way doing the flight. However, at each waypoint shown in The grid, the TRK heading takes me a few (5-8) degrees higher than the visible flight plan line on the map. Is this caused because I don’t have a correction map setting, or something like that. I have simply set my actual heading lower than the TRK setting, but I think there should be an explanation why the TRK value is not spot on. Is it not taking into account magnetic deviation, weather, or what?
June 6, 20215 yr Commercial Member The TRK is the desired ground track in magnetic degrees. The heading is almost always going to be something different to maintain the track because of wind. The map "track" is going to be true, so will be different due to magnetic variation. Dave
June 11, 20214 yr Author Dave, thank you for the info. That makes sense… Wish list item: An automated correction, based on weather/mag var, might be nice to have, so that the DTK becomes a dynamic smart heading to follow from waypoint to waypoint.
