June 8, 20214 yr Vermont's Green MountainsThis is a leisurely afternoon flying to various spots in the Berkshires and the Green Mountains. We start at Pittsfield [KPSF] (both an old industrial city and the heart of the Berkshires' cultural centers for music, dance, and the graphic arts). Then Williamstown [KAWQ] home to Williams College and Bennington's Morse State [KDDH], home to Bennington College. A hop to Deerfield Valley [4V8] (formerly Mount Snow) takes us to a ski and golf resort. Then Rutland [KRUT], once one of the world's leading marble producers and now a regional center. And then Middlebury [6B0] of Middleburry College fame. Montpelier is the nation's smallest state capital and its Knapp airport [KMPV] is appropriately modest. We travel to Morristown-Stowe [KMVL] while flying over the Ben & Jerry's Vermont Factory, the Trapp Family Lodge, and the very quaint New England town Stowe. Then over the mountains (passing the famous Stowe Ski Resort) to Burlington [KBTV]. After flying, we can drop into the city and enjoy the busy and charming downtown area.DocumentationThe flightplan can be found here.
