Vectors to ILS weirdness

Featured Replies

I ran into a strange issue I've never encountered before and am wondering if I accidentally triggered something I didnt intend to.

I was early in my STAR to KORD ILS28R when ATC all of a sudden vectored me in to the runway. I was pretty far out still, had a number of waypoints to go. No reason to be vectored from where I was.  I DID accidentally hit the approach button on the map to bring up the yellow lines, hence my "did I do something on accident" question.   As soon as I got vectored, my flight went to hell.  My descent was totally shot from that point because ATC wanted me back at my original FL.  I was coming in way way way too high.  Also had the heading/wind problem the entire way being vectored. It wanted me to "turn right to XYZ" when I was already to the right of that heading, etc...

Pilot2ATC is usually very very solid for me so this definitely struck me as odd.  I plan to fly the same route within the next couple of days to see if I can replicate it, but wanted to inquire about it.

What I think is the pertinent snippet of the logs below.  Looks Like I took an exception of some sort before things went crazy.  The log shows me (early) in a descent from FL350 to 4000' before the exception, at which point it wanted to keep me back at FL350 and vectored me.

You may have hit a bug that has been fixed for the next update that caused the weirdness.

In general, you can expect vectors, even in the middle of a STAR, if the angle of the turn to final is more than about 45 degrees.  You will also get them if the STAR has a "manual termination" in the procedures data.
