June 29, 20214 yr Posting this here since I'm running the beta to address an unrelated problem (just in case this is something in the beta) Is Pilot2ATC changing the METAR wind heading data from true to magnetic north when it displays weather info? I ask because I'm using ASXP and while the speed is correct, the wind direction is not. What it is showing is not exactly adjusted to magnetic north but close enough that could just be a difference between two different formulas used to calculate it. Example from the current_wx_snapshot.txt file : PANC::PANC 291755Z 27006KT 10SM FEW080 SCT200 15/08 A3007 RMK AO2 T01500078::PANC 291737Z 2918/3024 24004KT P6SM FEW080 Pilot2ATC is reporting 254 At 6 knots. Not seeing any errors in the Pilot2ATC logs. (I have seen it throw errors in the past due to a mis-formatted METAR entry so I checked for that first.)
June 30, 20214 yr Commercial Member Yes, the METAR wind direction is in True. ATIS and ATC give magnetic wind direction. P2A translates the METAR and displays magnetic wind direction. The difference you observe could be rounding, or in some cases, the Mag Variance information may be out of date, depending on the source. Dave
