RC4 not 'reading' my Sim...

Featured Replies

P3Dv5.2 + HF1 ~~~

Since updating from 5.1 to 5.2 I have been receiving admonishments (good word!) from ATC about missing some 'crossing point' which I did not receive in the first place - simply a "descend to *** " instruction!

Since updating 5.2 with the HotFix-1 I am now and also being chewed for not maintaining my flight levels!!!

The sim shows (with LittleNavMap) the aircxraft position and the tag indicating altitude is pretty much spot-on and certainly within about 10-feet (my setting in RC4 is for 200-feet +/-). Additionally, the GoFlight MCPPro is also displaying the altitudes set/instructed.

The constant altitude warnings are becoming more than irritating and yesterday I actually closed RC4 and made my own arrangements for landing!!!

Having been a user and supporter of RC for many years I am somewhat surprised by these recent events and have no idea where or how the 'errors' are being read. The chnges to P3D have never caused any issues in previous iterations - just very puzzled as to how and why they are occurring now...

Ideas, guys?

Ken 😉

@Ken Hall,

This is the most posted problem in the life of RC4. If RC4 tells you you're not at a specific altitude / flight level it's almost certainly because your altimeter pressure is set incorrectly.

Where you instructed to descend to a flight level or altitude? If the former you must be on Std Pressure. If the latter then QNH must be set. The update to v5.2 is immaterial.

Hi Ray,

no! Instructions for FL (I learned about the 'feet' a long time ago)...

I am still on Std pressure until I reach transition altitude and then as measured by Active Sky.

Just seems to have manifested since the two updates and one at a time!

So, first - crossing point missed ? Then crossing point PLUS altitude transgretion!!!

I just don't want the FISDO pulling my 'license' 🙂

Ken,

I need more info. Airports for your flight please.

Have you run the database builder?

Ken, if you’re convinced you’ve done things correctly can you post a screenshot of the screen where you enter your gate numbers and other flight-related info.

Hi Ray,

flight (last) was ESSA - EGCC...I am using the current AIRACs [AS_P3D_2106; LNM_2106] with FSUIPC v6.1.2...

"Ken, if you’re convinced you’ve done things correctly can you post a screenshot of the screen where you enter your gate numbers and other flight-related info."

Is that the P3D screen image - or - the LNM screen?

Ken 😉

Hi Ken,

Did you change the Transition Altitudes in the Controller page? Someone else did that and had a problem similar to yours. Those never need touching.

EGCC Transition Altitude (from memory) is 5000ft so when you're cleared down to FL110 / FL120 there will be no problems if you're on STD Pressure.

How are you determining the 40 mile radius around EGCC? Without knowing your aircraft I can't advise. But tuning MCT on 113.55 will be a good start.

And does this problem occur on all your flights or just some?

And you didn't answer my question about rebuilding the RC database.

Ray ~~~ apologies for the delay...

No chasnges to transition altitude; Issue only started with updates as previously stated; all flights since updates; RC data base was updated.....however ... I may have 'solved' the problem!

I read on another forum of somebody having similar issues and the advice included - if using ORBX scenery - run 'Sync Sim' ~~~ I remembered that I (on this update/occasion) had forgotten to run 'Sync Sim'.

Ran that and have just completed the second flight with NO shouting from RC 🙂

I have updated my 'check-list' for completion of updates!

If the issue returns I will contact you but meantime, thank you for your time...

Hi Ken,

That's a new one to me. Still, if it fixed your problem then great. 👍
