All MS FlightSim 2020 airfields not available

Featured Replies

Good day.  Firstly, thank you for the absolutely fantastic LNM program.  I've used it extensively for quite some time now.  First with X-Plane and then later I started using it for MS Flight Simulator 2020.  Question, and please forgive me if this has been answered already, if this is the case, please send me a link to a possible resolution. Using LNM for most airports is absolutely great.  But I've noticed that a huge number of smaller airfields which are on the map, is not represented by a LNM airfield icon.  So you cannot search for it or use it for Departures or Destinations. etc.  Only by zooming in, you can see that there is an airport, but only on the map, not in LNM.  As an example, I'm flying a lot in the Botswana Okavango Delta for our VA, but there are very few airfields available in LNM, the rest are definitely in MS Flight Simulator.  My work-around is to identify the airfields in MS Simulator and then to add userpoints in LNM for future reference.  I've re-built my database a number of times, but I just cannot find the correct way of doing this.  Any help will really, really be highly appreciated.  Kind regards from a cold and wet Cape Town, South Africa.

Can you see the small airports in the search (hit F4 to go there)?

Maybe map display settings. Try "Map" -> "Reset Map Display Settings"

Alex

Dear Alex, many thanks for your response.  No, these airfields are not available with Search (F4).  I have reset my map settings just now again, still nothing.  Here are a few of the airfields in the Okavango Delta Region of Botswana, maybe you can see if you can perhaps locate these? They're definitely all in MS Flight Simulator 2020, I have physically flown to all of them in the Sim:  FBNA (Chiefs Airfield), FBJA (Jao), FNBG (Mombo), FBOM (Omdop), FBFM (Vumbura), FBGU (Guna).  And there are many, many more. Just for reference, they're all to the North-West of Maun (FBMN) which is in fact available on LNM.

I'll really appreciate your assistance and response.

Kind regards

Ettienne

Hi Ettienne,

except FBFM I can find all these in my test installation. These are stock airports.

Do you use add-on or stock?
Do you use a scenery manager which uses links to organize airports?
Check LNM options page "Scenery library database" for exclusions. Remove all folders from the upper box.

Hi Alex, thanks again for your response.  The airfields which I quoted above may have been modified by the Okavango Delta Mod which I bought for MS Sim 2020 last weekend.  But even before I installed that, those airfields were not on my map. The rest of my installation for both MS and X-plane 11 is pure stock.

I do not use a scenery manager at all.

I've checked the exclusions page, there is nothing listed there.

What is the best way to completely remove LNM and all traces thereof from my system, maybe I need to try a really fresh and new installation with default settings again?   I'm really stumped, especially now that I know that some users see those airfields as stock.

I really appreciate your assistance.

Kind regards

Ettienne

You can remove or better rename the folder "ABarthel" (C:/Users/YOURUSERNAME/AppData/Roaming/ABarthel). This contains settings and all databases.
File locations are described here in the manual: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/FILES.html

I have no idea about the add-on. Maybe it is locked down by a DRM scheme which does not allow LNM to read it. LNM shows the stock airports in this case.

Try without the add-on or exclude it from loading in LNM options.

Thanks so much, Alex.  I'm just finishing a long haul flight, once I've landed, I'll try that.  I'll keep you updated.  And just by the way,  a friend of mine installed the very same scenery (Okavango Delta) and he can see everything.  It's just as if my LNM never properly updated the available MS airfields.  But thanks again for your assistance.

What might help: Run a scenery library loading process and send me the log. Maybe I can see something in there. I suppose the addon is stored in the community folder and not in a subfolder, right?

I'll do that, thank you, Alex. I've just checked, the addon is not in my community folder.  So not 100% sure exactly where it's saved, as the structure of 2020 is a bit of a misery to me.  🙂

I forgot: Some addons install in ...\Official\OneStore

I found the purchased Botswana scenery in ...\Official\OneStore.

OK, I've renamed the original LNM database as per your links and restarted LNM, which reported that the database is empty. I selected MS-2020, and it proceeded with creating its new database. No errors were found during this process and it took considerably longer than the last time I did this, which I perceived to be a good sign. I updated the GLOBE data as recommended, started LNM and all those airfields are now there.  So the issue is fully resolved.

Alex, I can just thank you for the time that you put aside to help me, you're doing a great job and really, really add value to our Flight Simulator experience.

I salute you, Sir.

Kind regards
Ettienne Brunsdon
