February 5, 200719 yr Hey everyone. I had FSX installed on an external sata drive. I had to use this drive for an emergency on my Mac, so I had to erase it of course. However, I did not touch any files that were installed on my system. EX: The desktop icon is there, but defaulted to the radio looking icon, and any other files that may have been installed to the C drive. If I go to re-install this on the external again, can I do so without actually uninstalling what's there on my system? I don't want to mess with this, because of my FS9 installation. i've heard of people having problems after uninstalling FSX. (or remnants of in my case) Any suggestions? I am looking at exploring FSX once again as I hear a service release is being worked on, and hope it is improved performance wise. Thanks for your input.
February 6, 200719 yr The new install will just overwrite anything left from any previous installation, providing that it is installed with the identical setup on the ext drive again. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 6, 200719 yr Hi Jeff,I believe you'll have difficulties reinstalling everything to the external drive again as your registry will show everything is still installed. You'll only get the Repair or Remove screen when you insert Disk 1. Perhaps you can simply do a Repair and see if that reinstalls everything back onto the external drive. It should. I had to uninstall my Standard version when the Deluxe version arrived from AVSIM and I had no problems with the uninstall or reinstall. Just make sure no anti-virus program is running in the background when you uninstall or reinstall or repair your installation.Best regards,Jim
