John Day Airport Problem in P3Dv5

Featured Replies

When I try to go to John Day airport in Oregon (KGCD formerly 5J0) I get both airports, one on top of the other.

5J0 is the Orbx John Day Airport and it looks like it is the operative one because it's on the surface.  But I can't find KGCD anywhere on my computer.

I disabled 5J0 in the Orbx scenery and only KGCD comes up.  But it is on a plateau about 500 feet above the surrounding terrain.

When both airports are enabled 5J0 appears under KGCD.

The problem is I can't find KGCD anywhere on my computer.  I searched the primary SSD drive, the secondary HDD drive, and then I searched This PC but the searches always comes up empty.  I have My Traffic installed but neither KGCD or 5J0 appear in it.

Can anyone tell me where KGCD might be hiding so I can delete it?

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

For searches I always use "Everything", a freeware much faster and better than Windows search. You may find it by searching "*KGCD*.bgl" or "*5J0*.bgl"

When I'm at home I can have a look at it (in 5-6 hrs). I fear, ORBX did not update this airport to v5. We probably need an exclusion of the default airport here. I could do that, if no one else already has done it.

P.S. Couldn't find the airport in the ORBX Freeware list. Is it ORBX? But I found this:

https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/207529-serious-mesh-issues-at-grant-regional-5jo-in-oregon/

This could help with your problem. I don't have TE Oregon, so I don't have the ORBX scenery. You may have another one installed then from before TE Oregon. Try to find it with "Everything" and remove the files. Don't forget 5J0 has a zero, not an O like Oscar.

Removing 5J0 kinda worked.  The end of one of the runways bridges a couple of gullies but I suppose that's the best we can do until or unless Orbx gives us a real fix.  But they seem to have forgotten FSX and P3D North America.  It's becoming an orphan.
