August 13, 20214 yr I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but for some reason when I choose e.g. the MERIT departure from KJFK (MERIT 6, RW31L, PUT), Pilot2ATC puts in the JFK VOR as a waypoint, then to MERIT. By contrast. the charts say turn left before R039 of CRI and climb via Breezy Point / Canarsie - with no relevant mention of JFK VOR). So when I flew the takeoff, I think the whole thing wasn't working right since I didn't get any takeoff heading or vectors at all, resulting in me just flying the Breezy Point climb myself with no directions from ATC. Can someone please help? Thanks a lot!
August 13, 20214 yr Commercial Member The data does not include any of the written procedures on the charts. You should be able to follow those instructions to get to MERIT, which after takeoff, is the next waypoint. Looking at the data, JFK is the "initial waypoint" for plotting the course to MERIT. Dave
August 14, 20214 yr Author @Dave-Pilot2ATC thanks for replying. Just a point of clarification: On the JFK VOR part of what you said, are you saying that Pilot2ATC's data says that, after the pilot performs the e.g. Canarsie climb himself, he will be given vectors for JFK VOR and then direct to MERIT? I'm just a bit confused about this part because from my understanding of the SID charts for the MERIT or KENNEDY departure, we are not supposed to fly to JFK VOR, but rather the procedure is: e.g. 31R Canarsie climb, then radar vectors to MERIT (without first going to JFK VOR) then PUT then as filed. Currently, Pilot2ATC says something like KJFK 31R then JFK VOR then MERIT. Thanks again!
August 14, 20214 yr Commercial Member There is no data about the Canarsie climb in the data, only on the charts, which P2A cannot read. There is also no indication in the data that vectors are to be given....So, you can take off, and as soon as you lift off you'll see that the Flt Plan moves to MERIT as the next waypoint. Following the Chart, you do the appropriate climb and then head direct to MERIT. Or, if you head straight to MERIT, ATC won't bother you because it has no information about all that detail. One of the hazards of a machine not being able to read English from the charts. Dave
