P3D 5.2 HF1: distant blur texture problem solved

Featured Replies

In P3D 5.2 HF1 I found that textures remained blurry at a shorter distance than in previous versions and their loading during flight was slower but I solved it by inserting an old configuration TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP = 10  in

Prepar3D.cfg - [TERRAIN].

It should be borne in mind that you need a performing hardware, I have a Gigabyte RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB - RAM 32 GB 4000 Mhz and an SDD M2 Samsung 980 PRO 1T because with TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP = 10 the VRAM increases considerably but the textures they are perfect on any scenario even at considerable distances.

I verified that even with TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP = 9  the scenario as well as being loaded faster takes up less VRAM with textures without blurring.

I used to use this setting in 5.0/5.1 but found that I was OOMing even with 16GB VRAM! So I just settled for 9.

I haven’t tried in 5.2 with the VRAM improvements, maybe I should!

Cheers
