February 22, 200719 yr Is there anyway to get a google earth skin onto the globe map in FSX? This would be really interesting I think.

February 23, 200719 yr Author The basic problem is that for the vast majority of the world - Google Earth has much poorer resolution than FS when your altitude is below 10,000 ft. Down close Google Earth is really, really bad.For some areas - it's great. Microsoft's Live Local is even better in some areas. You can get great results from small areas. But Google Earth and Live Local both suffer from very many problems is someone tried to use them for FS tiles for large areas. One is the sheer size of the files necessary. We've all see the photorealistic Chili files - now think of the number of files and how many hundred GB of space for the whole world.Another is the one sun angle per day - the shadows in many of the best pictures will look like a 1930's movie night shot with the sharp shadows.
