September 6, 20214 yr Commercial Member Funny thing is that if using the AFE (Artificial Flight Engineer) for take off and cruise and even landing I cannot put the flaps down at any speed, even if I disengage the AFE. Seems like the flaps are locked. If I do not use the AFE and fly the whole flight manually I can use flaps most anytime. January 8, 20224 yr Paul, It's been a while since I've flown the DC-6 in P3D...even longer since I've flown it with the AFE. If I recall, one of the tasks of the AFE on climb is to close the Hydraulic Bypass Control Lever as Robert has mentioned above. If you disable the AFE, you will still have to activate the hydraulics (pressure) manually to get activation of the flaps/landing gear. As Robert questioned above, is the Hydraulic Valve/Lever in the correct position? https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-dc-6-cloudmaster-forum/137337-hydraulic-system-pressure This is a wonderful plane to master without the AFE...good luck to you!
