Widgeons VR seating position.

Featured Replies

Hi, Really enjoying the Widgeon though I was hoping you could fix the VR seated position. So that every time I enter the plane I don't have to move my view forward a lot and maybe slightly up. Thankyou.

Also when entering the plane I've found the parking brake is off. When in everyone else's it's generally always on. Other than that great job.

I don't have any VR equipment, and I don't think Mark at Flysimware has either, so no first hand VR experience.  With that said.....

If you open the flysimware-grumman-g44a folder that is in your Community folder and go to  ...\Community\flysimware-grumman-g44a\SimObjects\Airplanes\Flysimware_Grumman_G44A\ you will find a cameras.cfg file. If you open cameras.cfg in a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++ you will find a section called [VIEWS] that looks like this:

[VIEWS]
eyepoint = 3.95, -0.85, -1.9 ; (feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum

You can now try adjusting the three values to suit your needs and then save the file. Before doing this I suggest you write down the original values and also make a backup copy of the cameras.cfg file "just in case". You will have to reload the plane, or maybe even reload the sim, for a change to take effect. If there is a simpler way to permanently adjust the VR eyepoint for a specific aircraft in MSFS I'm just not aware of it -- maybe someone else can help.

I have not tried adjusting an eyepoint in MSFS, but in other sims I have found that:

First number=Forward and back (positive numbers move forward)
Second Number=Left and Right (positive numbers  or less negative, move Right)
Third Number=Up and down (positive numbers or less negative, move up)

As for the parking brake, I believe setting the parking brake is part of the preflight checklist.  Regardless, FSW said in the next update the parking break will be ON if the a/c is loaded "Cold and Dark".

Ark, Thanks for the information. I've done a lot of checking of the eyepoint figures and found that the best for VR is

[VIEWS]
eyepoint = 4.55, -1.0, -1.9 ; (feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum.

Works wonderfully.

Hopefully this will be useful to you in the future.
