March 18, 200719 yr Interesting-I did the somewhat the same yesterday. Hadn't flown since January 2 due to weather/work schedule. Did some steep turns with and without the hood, some single engine out procedures (on a twin), a couple full approaches, and a hold. Found the sim had helped me greatly-instructor said he could detect no rustiness.XWinds were gusting to 22 here-you must be on the east coast-assumed they moved there today.I'd agree on stalls-maybe the sim is not as useful there.(My leg hurt on the engine outs-the sim definitely doesn't duplicate the control forces there). March 18, 200719 yr I've actually grown very fond of using an Xbox 360 controller. Obviously totally dissimilar to actual aircraft controls (today anyway, who knows what they'll be doing someday), but control is very precise and situational awareness is good, especially in FSX.Here's how I map the buttons:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168707.jpg1,2 - Rudder3 - Trim down - repeat max4 - Trim up - repeat max5 - Ailerons and elevatorpress 5 - Flaps up6 - view pan l/r&up/dn axespress 6 - Flaps down incrementally7 - Look (pan) up,down, right, left, etc.8 - push to talk9 - Landing gear up/downY - Throttle increase incrementally - repeat maxB - Throttle decrease incrementally - repeat maxX - change view (s key)A - brakesI'm still trying to decide whether pushing up on the pan button should pan down or up.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
