October 4, 20214 yr As of yet Milviz has not come up with an update to their weather radar that will work in P3Dver5.2, and I have my doubts that they ever will (hope I'm wrong). As a result, at the present time a number of my Flysimware aircraft (Lear35A, Falcon50, MU-2, C402, C441) have a dead, inop Milviz wx radar in the VC instrument panel. So I have resurrected a gauge I developed years ago for FSX before I had the original WX radar. Shown below is what I loosely call a "wind radar" (it is not really a radar unit), but just is an attempt to make some use of the Milviz wx radar screen space (all WX radar controls are inop). I prefer this to having a permanently inop, dark gauge in the panel. The wind radar has two basic displays as shown below: You move between the displays by clicking on the screen with the mouse. You can also click to turn off the displays in which case you just have a blank blue screen. WCA is Wind Correction Angle. The WCA appears when the true airspeed is above 50Kts and your heading is within 30 degrees of your course, and indicates the heading correction needed to maintain the desired course due to the crosswind. The green altimeter setting is the current Baro setting you have dialed into your altimeter. This will flash red if your setting differs by more than 0.04 inHg from what the sim thinks is the actual altimeter setting, thus reminding you to update your Baro setting. The wind speed values on the little a/c symbol show the current vertical and horizontal wind components (headwind/tailwind and crosswind) relative to the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. The yellow wind arrow shows the overall current wind value direction and speed, again relative to the aircraft. The Magnetic Variation info can be useful if needing to convert the True wind direction in a METAR to a magnetic direction, e.g., when evaluating winds relative to a magnetic runway direction. Setting up the wind radar requires pasting a gauge file into the P3Dv5 gauges folder, and pasting a [Vcockpitxx] entry into the aircraft's panel.cfg file. If anyone is interested in this, PM me an email address and which Flysimware aircraft you want to add it to and I'll send you the files with some instructions. Al Edited April 4, 20224 yr by ark
