October 19, 20214 yr I do have force pilot runway selection enabled in settings, but ATC is refusing to give me the runway I've requested. It just repeats the one it wants me to use rather than what I am requesting. Am I missing a step somewhere?
October 19, 20214 yr Commercial Member There are multiple ways to set a runway when you have Force Pilot Runway Selection checked. If you have a SID in your Filed flight plan that would do it. Otherwise, on the SID panel, you can check the Force Rwy option and then press the Set Rwy button instead of loading a SID. Dave
October 19, 20214 yr Author In this case my files flight plan had the runway I wanted. ATC just changed it at the last minute (I assume because the winds changed). I was trying to override that change by requesting a different (the original actually) in text chat. I used the phrase builder helper thing so the syntax was correct but every time ATC ignored my request and repeated it's new runway to me
October 19, 20214 yr Commercial Member When you say the flight plan had the runway you wanted, does that mean you used the Force Rwy option and pressed the Set Rwy button in the SID pane, or that you had a SID in the filed flight plan? If not, the runway in the flight plan is not considered as selected by the pilot and P2A is free to assign whatever it wants at Clearance and Taxi time. Also, the ATIS "arriving and departing" runways may be different from what you get if you are forcing the runway selection. Dave
October 19, 20214 yr Author I didn't have force selected when I filed. Atc set my departure and arrival runways. When on approach, atc changed my runway assignment. I tried to override that by requesting my original runway. It wouldn't take it. I then toggled the force option and tried again, still no dice. Is there not a way to override atc and choose the runway I want while in the air and on descent?
October 19, 20214 yr Commercial Member The only way would be to request vectors to an approach on the different runway. You can only change the destination runway before you start down, or by scrubbing the arrival/approach and requesting vectors to a different approach. And even requesting vectors might not yield great results in some situations, like mountainous terrain etc. Dave Edited October 19, 20214 yr by Dave-Pilot2ATC
