How to Start FSX in the Free Flight Menu

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me how to start FSX so that it brings up the "Free Flight" screen? My FSX starts in flight. I haven't found an option to do this. Thanks

I believe its under General Settings and you check something like "show opening screen."I might be wrong though.

Hi joepaddockIn your FSX.cfg file is a line:SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=0orSHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1Change eventually that line.RegardsHenrik KorningGreenland

If you are getting any menu screens when you start the simulator (and NOT getting dropped straight into a flight), just select the "Free Flight" screen, and then *exit the sim*.The simulator always records and remembers the last menu you used when shutting down.Of course, if you choose to fly a mission or multiplayer flight, you will be brought back to that menu upon your next restart, too. There is no way to force it to ALWAYS open with free flight unless you ALWAYS exit from the free flight mode - the fsx.cfg variable will be overwritten with the last menu you used each time.-Greg

Sorry for the delay in responding to your posts. Thank you to the responders. Yes, the problem was the "Show Opening Screen" was NOT checked. This was the 1st time I posted on this form and I'm very impressed with the knowledge of the members. Looking forward to SP1.:D
