October 25, 20214 yr My first flight attempts after SU6 had horrible taxiing performance (froze every couple of seconds) and I reported on it in this forum. After a couple of adjustments the issue seemed to go away and my overall performance was as good as or even better than ever. However, today I ended up with that same terrible slideshow performance - this time the slideshow continued into the departure and climb out, then dissipated. Suddenly, my cooling fans began to roar and continued at a high pitch for much of the flight. Even though the fans were working hard, the flight itself appeared to be smooth. Out of curiosity, I began to run some diagnostics: CPU: 50% GPU: 45% VRAM: 41% RAM: 55% FRAMERATE: 2 FPS (Are you kidding me?!) CPU Temp: 82° F GPU Temp: 74° F Usually, my temps run in the 50's and 60's. Also, I've never seen frame rates anywhere near that low. The interesting thing is diagnostics reported 2 FPS for the remainder of the flight - however, the simulation itself appeared to be running (eye-balling) right around 30 FPS or better. Everything appeared to be normal and I was able to fly a rather complicated approach with no issues, no stutters, no more freezes, etc It occurred to me that when I originally reported the bad taxiing frame-rates I was flying in South America (Argentina). Today's flight was also in South America (Paraguay and Bolivia). Yesterday I made two flights in North America and had zero issues (frame rates were 30 - 44 FPS). Everything was very smooth. Has anyone else experienced performance issues in South America? Not all regions of South America have caused me problems, I've had two flights in Brazil since SU6 and performance was good. I just find it interesting that the only place these issues have manifested themselves have been regions of South America. Randall Rocke
October 25, 20214 yr Try turning off photogrammetry to see if it gets better, I have read that many have performance issues on the ground that seem to be related to it, I also have problems in some places so I will try to turn it off myself. October 25, 20214 yr The answer to your question is yes: Slideshow performance can be tied to geographic areas. Personally, I get excellent performance except at Hartsfield International in Atlanta and a couple of other bizarre exceptions. Otherwise, I get a solid 30FPS. October 25, 20214 yr Author I'll give that a try the next time I experience it, though I would think that if Photogrammetry was the issue it would show up in high population areas with a lot of buildings, etc. In all cases where I've run into this issue, I was in the middle of agricultural land with only a few airport buildings and an occasional farmhouse... Everything was fairly flat for miles. Randall Rocke

Thanks, David - I was beginning to question my sanity. I could fly into Chicago under an overcast and get a solid 30 FPS. Then I go into farmland in South America and she freezes every 2 sec.
