TBM930 (without mods) no autopilot

Featured Replies

I'm trying to use the base TBM930 after SU7 using a flightplan through msfs. Upon takeoff, I cannot engage the autopilot. I've tried the AP button and also the keyboard shortcut. I haven't seen it mentioned and wondered if I'm the only one or is this an SU7 bug with the TBM930.  I've only tried the Airbus 32nx and that worked.

Have you turned the A/P  toggle switch on the R/H end of the overhead panel to ON. It is the master autopilot switch. I can't remember exactly what it is called but it must be ON to get the A/P to engage. I think it is there in the real A/C  as a method of removing power to the trim system and a way of ensuring the A/P is disengaged should a major a/p problem occur.

In most modern aircraft, the autopilot switch is an engage/disengage mode switch. It does not turn power on/off to the A/P, therefore a switch that removes power to the autopilot/trim system is needed in case it goes all ape s**t & power needs to be removed urgently.

Thank you for responding. I checked that after I posted and found that I had to set it back to on. The new SU7 changed it back to off. Thanks again.

It is normally OFF for a cold start & is early in my checklist.
