WASMized flight dynamics ...

Featured Replies

A few hours playing Reno, and I got, again, very disappointed with the default flight dynamics in MFS. The Pits, the T-6 and the P51D variants are... well...

All but the L-39, I found the racers so so so arcadish that I really would rather not have spent the $29 on that "soft" Reno package. The Pitts, the P51D and the Texan, well, remind me that even War Thunder can feel way better and more realistic than MFS when it comes to flight dynamics.

Thanksfully there's the PMDG DC-6, which I did enjoy although I have to admit haven't loaded for quite a while but has that sophisticated taste that PMDG has long accustomed their users to enjoy, and miraculously even some of the default aircraft can feel more or less acceptable, like the default C172.

A few months ago Alex kindly offered me the FlyInside Bell 47 G. I did like it. It's not at the level of X-Plane helicopters, and so it's also even further away from DCS rotary flight dynamics with a UH-1H, but it feels ike in the good track, and successive updates have made it even better. It uses a totally external flight dynamics model !

But with SU7 came this new "Volocopter" which I somehow  enjoyed. It has some really interesting characteristics, and when I thought as it was announced for SU7 that I wouldn't touch it because I don't even like the idea IRL, truth is it is ( after the useless time spent in arcade Reno Races ) the aircraft I have used the most with SU7 ... It has a totally external, "WASM-based" flight dynamics model !

Then, there's that recent enthusiastic announcement by A2A that they had finally been abe to "PEEK and POKE" MFS in a way that might turn their debut into the MFS tittle a reality, sooner than later... Maybe what they found was also that they can use a "WASM-based Accusim connector"?

It appears that WASM, apart from serving stuff like avionics modeling can also be used to create flight dynamics models that are totally independent from the standard MFS flight model? This might well be a great possibility for those who really want to make their flying machines aerodynamics and systems shine in coordination with the gorgeous sceneries and overall graphics provided by MFS?

C'mon Dominique, can you say you like the feel of the 3 props ? The L-39 has some nice touch though.... I liked that one.

I should have added a smiley, it was tongue-in-cheek not a sarcasm  !

I was a great fan of the Lotus L-39 (and like  the DCS one too)  so I really need to be convinced that the MSFS incarnation is as good if not better 'cause, well, I am in love with Gina and the Starfighter sounds good ! Not yet up in Orbx Direct but the temptation will be overwhelming then.

???

Orbx Direct ? You mean, we can buy aircraft through the Orbx wrapper ? Hmmm, I am really getting old and out of sync 😕

I did push Orbx Central, and installed my only purchase - Orbx Global - from there, as well as the free Airports, and the Libraries, but didn't notice I could also buy aircraft add-ons from them ?

Of course, I bought the Gina with them. They have a dozen MSFS aircraft from "partners" on Central. The 104 product page is up but she is not yet in OrbxDirect.
