December 29, 20214 yr I've run into this with several airliners so I dont think its a true vs magnetic north thing. I regularly have ATC telling me to expedite my turn to XYZ even though I'm already on that heading. Guess is that winds are somehow involved in it. I do have P2ATC configured to use AXP (X-Plane) to match the sim itself. It's not a huge deal, but does get annoying when ATC keeps repeating instructions I'm already on or tells me turn left to XYZ when I'm already left of that particular direction.... Running latest beta if that helps.
December 29, 20214 yr Commercial Member If it's telling you to expedite a turn, it is sensing that your indicated heading is not within the Allowed Heading Variance set in Config on the ATC Settings tab. Some 3rd party aircraft do actually have a setting to display True heading instead of Magnetic. P2A, as in the real world, gives all heading assignments in Magnetic. If you fly the stock Baron in X-Plane, it will display Magnetic. You can increase that Variance setting in P2A and that might solve the problem also. Dave

In the case of the flight in question, was using the ini a300 which to my knowledge cant be changed between magnetic and true (I do believe the 320 family and 340 can be toggled though. I'll try tweaking the variance. You're referring to "Allowed Heading Variance (deg) in the ATC Settings tab correct? (Currently mine's set to the default of 5 degrees)
December 29, 20214 yr Commercial Member It's also possible an aircraft is displaying magnetic but reporting the indicated heading in true. P2A only uses the indicated heading and has to assume the reported indicated heading is magnetic, as it should be. Yes, that is the correct Config setting. One way to check is to see if flying the heading lines you up with the desired track displayed when you press the APPR button next to the map. Edited December 29, 20214 yr by Dave-Pilot2ATC
