January 12, 20224 yr Hoping to make this flight later today. While setting up for it early this am, noticed a few of the comments on the 2m dem. I won't have time to test either but reading that stutters might be caused by the 2m CanaryDEM. (2m would be is very detailed/heavy). Norm
January 12, 20224 yr Same stutters here with my older machine and not using the city photogrammetry. As an alternative, one could use the Mikeaa 20M DEM for the Canary Islands. A quick flight comparison over Tenerife revealed stutters for the 2M mesh and no stutters for the 20M mesh. However, the viewing experience is different. The 20M mesh is good quality for our type of flying. However, as Bry indicates, the 2M mesh is really spectacular in how the accurate ridge lines and the volcanic calderas truly make the photoreal textures pop when we fly over the rugged Canaries terrain. Both mesh packages have the occasional anomaly, so that is sort of equal. The question is whether it is worth putting up with occasional stutters for the extra wow factor. Personal choice. (I would normally pick the better flying experience of the 20M mesh, but at the moment think that I'll try the 2M mesh for this particular event...knowing that I may have to stop and reload the simulator to change.) --Mike MacKuen
