Why does my joystick rudder control work with FSX but not with MSFS

When I test it with joy.cpl it shows full right and full left and center only

It would be helpful if you provided a little more information:

Exactly what joystick controller are you using?

Under MSFS Controls Options, what rudder assignments have you set up for your joystick?

BTW, suggest you check to see if Auto-rudder is turned on under MSFS Assistance Options since that could cause a conflict with your joystick rudder control.

And make sure you assigned the rudder AXIS and not some rudder button/key option.

Thrustmaster A320

Auto rudder is off

Rudder axis is joystick only

Rudder axis is assigned to Rudder- Axis Z

All works well with my old Logitech 3D pro

Thanks in advance

That makes me wonder if the Thrustmaster joystick is defective somehow, or something in its "setup" is wrong -- does it use special drivers?  But, on further thought, you said the Thrustmaster works fine in FSX, so that kind of rules out a joystick hardware defect.

Another possibility would be an assignment conflict with another axis or key or button that might have been assigned to the rudder axis somehow (although the key or button would have to be "on" to cause a problem) .  Do both the Logitech and Thrustmaster joysticks use the "twist" function for the rudder axis?

And of course, you only want to have one joystick or controller with a "rudder control" connected to the sim at a time.

I assume this means the rudder axis output jumps between these three settings rather than move incrementally between them. So if Win10 (I assume) sees a problem, then I would expect the sim would as well.  So I'm surprised the Thrustmaster rudder input works fine in FSX unless FSX is on a different computer in which case I'm back to some kind of software problem or an assignment conflict on the MSFS computer.

FSX and MSFS on the same PC

Thrustmaster sent me a new one, it worked for a few hours and now it is doing the same thing,

I know I'm not the only one with the problem!!  Just hoping someone here could help me!

My thinking is that somehow the joystick and MSFS are not compatible or they have a problem with their potentiometers

I have given up at this point!   the old logitech will have to do for now.

Thanks
