x-plane 11 performance dropped to less than 1 fps (3080Ti)

Featured Replies

Hi, wish you all a good day.

My x-plane 11 became totally unflighable, with less than 1 FPS and here is the detail:

I had installed HP reverb g2 VR and had great time with my xp with an average of 40 FPS for 10 days or so

Then wanted to try my Son's VR set (Oculus quest 2). Installed all the software and unplugged the HP from the USB port.

First round with the Quest 2, the FPS was ok (30-40)

I wanted to increase the resolution so, I used the openxr developer tab and activated the custom sampling to 1

Right after that, the FPS dropped to below 1

I did the following with no luck at all

Restarted the PC

Powered it off and waited for minutes and hours

Deleted the preference folder from the output folder several times

Tried to reduce the value in openxr

Deleted the openxr

Tried to reduce the Supersampling percentage in steamVR

Tried to reduce the oversampling through Oculus Tray Tool

Changed the cable of the monidor

Unplugged the DP connection of the HP and the Quest

Changed the cable of the monitor

MSFS 2020 is still runing normal with acceptable FPS as usual

My PC specs are:

RTX EVGA 3080Ti

AMD 5900x

36 memory

samsung m.2

Any ideas please?

Thanks you

Delete "X-Plane Screen Res.prf", "X-Plane Window Positions.prf" and "X-Plane.prf" from "X-Plane 11/Output/preferences". You will have to reset your graphics and window settings after that, but it may work.

My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

I been experience a lot of strange things lately particularly when I fly over New Jersey area my simulator slows to a total freeze.  Anyway one technique I use is there is an option to install a 2nd copy of X-Plane in your computer.   I use the 2nd vanilla version to see if I can replicate the problem.  This helps to isolate or rules out issue with hardware, driver, and configuration.  If problem doesn't exists with 2nd vanilla copy then I start removing plugin particularly any plugin that draws 3D like AI Traffic, Weather, etc.
