February 13, 20224 yr I know I've asked this before but slightly different question this time as I am starting from scratch anyway. I have two options. My PC is a multi-Boot system with 4 different Windows installs 1. P3D V4 2. P3DV5 3. MSFS 4. Other Steam Games Question is am I better using install 1 which already has both V4 and a Vanilla V5 on it or install 2 which is intended to be exclusively for V5. Thought process being if I use install 1 the paths for all my V4 add-ons would be exactly the same if I want to use them in V5. If I use install 2 I can't really leverage anything from V4 other than installers. There are also a number of add-ons designed to prompt for V4 or V5 which would make them universal for me. Is it worth starting from scratch? If I leverage install 1 I can use install 2 as a Win 11 test bed... Can't sleep anyway so may as well be productive. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

I'm thinking about addons, which install files in programmdata, local or roaming....like OMDG, FSLabs, license keys of various addons (Simmarket etc) software like OMDG which checks your system (aka activation). Virtuali\GSX, GSX ini files, simobjects. What about those? The idea is good....if those would work or if someone has a solution for those. Obviously option 1 means no HW change from a registration perspective. Option 2 is no different than different HW but so long as I de-commission V4 and don't use both simultaneously I should be fine. Certain products I do have multiple license keys if it was required for upgrade. The goal is in no way to avoid re-paying for licenses if it would be required for either scenario. I'm happier to pay twice than install twice if it is questionable. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

If ....(wish) all products would completely install their files in one single directory that would make our lives easier (customer perspective). Maybe someone can chime in on this. Regards, Marcus P.

There are a lot of products that would need a full re-install no matter what (PMDG, QW , GSX etc) but anything in the V4 Add on directory that could be copied directly to the V5 Add on Directory would at least have the right path in option 1... Anything else could just be installed but to the V5 Folder... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
