February 28, 20224 yr I just bought firefighter X. Unfortunately it is unplayable. I am looking forward to play it, hopefully someone can help. - The fires do not generate automatically, in the FIRES window there is red wheel that is spinning forever - I can 'design a fire' at my current position, but they do not show in the scenery. I set size to 4 for now. I disabled surface checks in FFX - I was able to set my own aircraft on fire by creating a fire at my present position whille sitting on the aircraft runway , but the ground was not on fire - Although i took all the precautions to minimize impact on FPS, the game is still behaves like a quasi slideshow. Frames seem to alternate bet 1 FPS and 30 fps, although 30 FPS appears on the screen most of the time, games behaves as being at 1 FPS. The 1 FPS slideshow is consistent with time almost like a music beat. To minimize frame rates, I have limited the number of firest to 1, used 1 element per fire, visual drop density to 0, not using fire gauge, fire complexity to simple, lifecycle to manual, firefighter x status not shown in P3D, P3D grapics settings to minimal quality, spec effects detail and distance both to hig, Ppause on task is unchecked. Also made sure season is summer, Flying with stock piper cub at stock airport, To find the fire, I fly the heading called 'bearing' in the fire widow (it is not the bearing to the aircraft, like a NDB). This is my setup Intel core i7-6700 - 4GHz 16 GB ram GTX 960 - 4GB 3 monitors Windows 10 Home P3D 4.5, FPS locked at 30, 30 FPS achieved most of the time Firefighter X 1.93 (I have the 1.87 Manual) Rex texture direct Activesky for P3DV4 Orbx base, regions, vector, landclass, Immersive installer, PrecipitFx, SODE, RealLight, TrueGlass Chaseplane UTlive2 .

FFX always comes with a current manual. 7 hours ago, bcote689 said: in the FIRES window there is red wheel that is spinning forever That sounds like your sim refuses to create the fire objects. In that case FFX will try again and again and again, always receiving an error in return, which is why the FPS go down. Make sure that the content addon package is present and active. In P3D go to "Options->Add-ons" and check that "Lorby-SI FireFighterX" is there and that it is enabled. If hav to enable it, P3D has to be restarted. LORBY-SI
February 28, 20224 yr Author Hi In P3D, i went in the Options/Add-ons pull-down menu. The Firefighter X add-on is not there. I tried re-installing, no success. I installed the demo version of Axis and Ohs, this one is present in this pull-down menu and it is enabled. Thanks for your help. BTW, I found the correct version of the manual, it was installed on the hard drive along iwth the software. The older version I had picked up from here https://www.lorby-si.com/uploads/6/0/8/2/60827113/firefighterx_documentation.pdf

The app and all assets are installed into the autodiscovery folder of P3D like this: C:\Users\...\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Lorby-SI FireFighterX_P3D_V4\ The FFX app folder then contains the add-on.xml file with the package definiton, so P3D will find it automatically and add the addon package. Make sure that everything is in the right place. Did you move the app manually? Edited February 28, 20224 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
February 28, 20224 yr Author Thanks a lot. The fires are burning. Frame rates are good. I had not moved the app manually, however I had inputted a folder different than the default folder when prompted by the installer. I re-installed choosing the default folder. Can't wait to try it now :)
