I like to try to follow liveatc while using PSXTraffic. I pick an aircraft, block its callsign and obey the ATC instructions given to it. It is easier to get in sync with this aircraft at the departure airport. At the arrival airport, it is more of a challenge. It usually involve targeting the aircraft on the FSRealTraffic radar screen and trying to keep it in the middle of the range rings. That is done by varying the sim rate to catch up to it.
A variant of that is to, while descending on the the STAR arrival procedure, target a different aircraft on the same STAR to the same airport.
i am wondering if it would make sense to have an additional “button” on the user interface of PSXTraffic to instantly slew the aircraft to the (longitude, lattitude, altitude) position of the aircraft which the callsign is blocked, and then continue the flight without skipping a beat. That would allow us to be in sync with this aircraft and then follow the ATC instructions given to it. From this point on, one would do his best to keep in sync with the vertical speed and ground speed by following the cues on the RealTraffic radar screen.
