Hello everyone,Getting ready to install SP1. What preparation needs to be done? In FS9 we had to revert back to "out of the box" (no third party) install the update and then re-install everything? Some even started out with a fresh load of FS9 and then applied the patches and then reloaded all third party add-ons??What is the best way to do the upgrade?Thanks!Barry

Personally, I think a fresh install is the best/safest way to go. It's what I did.Make sure you have a recent DirectX instalation (April 07?)Uninstall FSXIf FS9 is still installed, run Flight1 FS9 path repair toolDefrag FSX driveInstall FSX and run itRegister FSXInstall SP1 and run itDefrag again.Tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak, tweak, and oh yea, more tweaking....

This is a bummer. Anyone just try installing SP1 with any add-ons like A/I Traffic add-on A/C, etc installed?Does the installation balk during complaining that the original state has been modified? Do you just back up the critical .cfg files?Please advise!Barry

Do you just back up the>critical .cfg files?>>Please advise!>> HI BarryI installed SP1 into FSX over My traffic X, and several add on planes from FSD and Eaglesoft with only one minor problem.The add on I believe deleted the Toolbox from my upper menu bar, which was easily replaced after going to the My TrafficX forum.Other then the one problem I mention the patch appears to work as advertised.Using Vista Ultimate, Duo Core with a 7950 Nvida Video Card.Good LuckKenny G

Whether or not you choose to uninstall your add-ons and/or FSX, make sure you have all of your registration codes handy for all of your programs before you do anything to your computer. It's unhappy to get stuck in the middle of a re-installation when you realize that you can't find your regsitration codes. Jeff ShylukAvsim Product Reviewer

Well I installed SP1 and when I launch FSX it runs for awhile and then prompts me for the GoFlight module exe launcher launch, which I say Yes and then FSX splash screen disappears and nothing, it didn't load at all.Any ideas?Barry
