Settings during night flights?

Featured Replies

Hello boys and girls,

My sim is running amazing during day flights but for night flights it's another story.

What are the settings, related to nightly performance, I could adjust to get better results?

Currently I'm running Dynamic Reflections Medium and AA 8xSSAA, I tried 4xMSAA and the result was a couple frames better with bad lights visuals. Maybe is the scenery?, I'm using all ORBX but Vector, TE California included, and KLAS and KLAX airports.

Did you try 4xSSAA? That's usually a good compromise for SSAA and dynamic lighting. Also, remember that DL performance can vary wildly depending on the who created the airport. Some devs seem to be really good at optimizing DL and some just don't seem to care at all.

There is a gentleman on YouTube that produces a lot of P3D videos (although he may have moved to MSFS since he has gone quiet of late - Jose something I believe).

Anyway, he maintains multiple P3D profiles, set and saved in order to optimize for specific circumstances. For night flying, he turned terrain resolution way back (can't see it anyway), dropped Shadows completely (also can't them), and made other changes that I cannot recollect. I agree with Alex (@Chapstick) about 4xSSA - it is a good sweet spot and works well on my lowly GTX 1080.
