Hi Emile:Check your Windows sound system speaker settings and speaker configuration/connections.FSX sounds now use multiple speakers, and the spot view needs a center speaker to hear the engines from behind the plane you are "following" if your system is running in 5.1 surround sound mode. You can verify the spot view aircraft engine is actually running at proper volume if you use your hat switch to swing around to the front of the plane you are "behind" in your "virtual observation aircraft"; you should then hear the engine sounds in either the right or left speakers depending on which side of the plane you approach from.Sound card drivers for most modern SoundBlaster cards will allow a "down-mix" of surround encoded files into a stereo or even 4-speaker setup if that is what some users need to run.But you should first check the settings in: Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Sound and Audio Devices Properties "Volume" Tab > "Speaker settings" sub-section > "Advanced" Button > Advanced Properties "Speakers" Tab > "Speaker Settings" pick list box and verify what works with your physical speaker setup running off of your sound card (and via any external amplifiers if applicable).Hope this helps!:-) GaryGB

Hi GaryGB,Thanks for this information. It solved partially my problem. When I look at the aicraft in Spot view from the left or right side I can hear the sound without problem and this in the 5 speakers. But when I "sit" behind .... only minimal sound execpt if I set it to the "full" volume and when I change the view ... I have problems with my wife due to the noise (lol) ...Thanks again.
