P3Dv5 rotary buttons problem

Featured Replies

Morning @jadolfo I have found that I do not need to send you a test build as DEBUG will show me some additional VRI data. Could you try the following and send me the fsuipc6.log?

  1. Start P3Dv5 with Default Aircraft.
  2. Open LINDA Console.
  3. Tick Log VRi events and Log Lua events.
  4. Untick Log GUI events.
  5. Select LINDA logging level - DEBUG.
  6. Repeat following for each problem Knob:
  • Rotate clockwise slowly for number of times.
  • If fault or anomaly occurs press USER8 button (top right) to mark event.
  • Rotate anti-clockwise slowly for number of times. Mark occurrences by pressing USER7 button.
  • Repeat above but turning knob quickly.

This test will show me at the base level the communication between the VRi MCP2 and LINDA.

@jadolfo Thank you for the latest logs. It appears that the knob output reverses briefly (HDG- to HDG++ to HDG-) and in some cases goes from slow to fast (this is dependent on how consistently you are rotating the knob). This leads to unexpected displayed values.

Assuming you were continuing to rotate steadily in one direction, this would suggest that there is a hardware glitch from your panel. This may explain the problems you have been reporting. More tests over a longer rotation of the knobs would be need to confirm this.

There is nothing in software that can be done to correct the false data. Exercising (rotating) the knobs might clean the contacts and fix the values returned. I would do this in the test mode I mentioned (AP Disengage to off and switch on).
