June 2, 20224 yr Cool ! Along the 12th cycle I will try to motivate Austin to detail soaring weather 🙂 We have basically 3 ways of climbing on gliders ( without and engine 🙂 ) ... - Convection - Advection / frontal / convergence - Orographic X-Plane 12 will model Convection in more detail than before, not exactly based on the true physics / thermodynamics of convection, but using a fine tuned model of thermal dynamics. Orographic lift is already modeled. Mountain convection and other interactions would be cool to have one day ( the reason why cloud bases are higher over mountains... ). Same for Gravitic Waves ! Modeling of advection as a source for lift would be even better ! We have that in frontal systems, sea breeze, etc... Poor Austin 🙂 Edited June 2, 20224 yr by jcomm Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
