August 27, 20223 yr Hello, I have wanted to try P2A so I downloaded the trial version. After setting it up and running it for the first time, I realised that P2A can't hear me. My microphone (its a desktop microphone) is set to default and is not blocked by windows. Then I tried to run Grammar Help according to another post. The green text remains "Full text:" even after many tries. When I click replay, I don't get anything back. I have the US language pack installed and selected as default. I am really at a loss. I would appreciate a response!
August 27, 20223 yr Commercial Member If you press the Replay button in Grammar Help, after you say something, you will hear what you said. If you don't, then the problem is with the Microphone setup in windows or some other non-P2A problem. In addition to being set as the default audio input device, Check that the Mic volume and boost are turned up. In the Mic Properties, Listen tab, check the "Listen to this device" option and be sure you can hear yourself loud and clear speaking into the mic. On the Advanced tab, set the sound quality to one of the CD or DVD quality settings. Sometimes the Studio quality settings don't work. When you press the Practice button in Grammar Help, be sure the info window says that the US English Grammars are loaded If you have a program named "Sonic Suite" installed, uninstall it. It can prevent the speech recognition engine from working. If you have other sound add-ons, try removing them also Check that your microphone driver is updated Dave
August 27, 20223 yr Author Hello, 1. That was already set to max. 2. I can hear myself loudly when talking into the mic. 3. That was already set like that. 4. When pressing the practice button, it says "Grammar: StaticGrammar". According to your info this shouldnt be like that. 5. I don't have that installed. 6. Don't have any other sound addons. 7. Done.
August 27, 20223 yr Commercial Member You're right, it will say that the Grammar is Static Grammar and Loaded should be true. It should also say that the Recognition Engine is English-US. What do you hear when you press Replay in Grammar Help after saying "Say Altimeter"? If you don't hear anything, then the mic is not getting through to P2A. Dave
August 27, 20223 yr Commercial Member If you heard it with Replay once, then it should have been recognized. You can try doing the Windows Speech training. Some users have reported that doing the built-in Windows speech training fixed their issue of not being heard. You should also see if the P2A Language Training can be done. See the Operations manual for details on how to do this.
