Install corrupted, can't get into download from the store

Featured Replies

A new PC, a new fresh install of MSFS (out of the MS store), SU10. Worked fine.
This morning there was a small update but the update process hung. Left it there but it didn't recover.
Task manager: Not responding.
Quit, start over same thing. Quit, start over, MSFS runs to the check updates, it start to install the small update and then hangs.

Store always give the error: Something happened on our end. Does this for the Xbox and and digital ownership too (other installed apps update fine).

All i can do is "retry" or "cancel" the download.
Retry gives the same error, cancel cancelles the download, re-download gives the same error.

Also, the drive i try to install it on (G: drive special selected for MSFS) is accesable but in diskmanager most of the options are greyed out (like format etc). If i try to do something there, it tells me the drive is in use (even after a reboot with nothing loaded but Windows 10).
I can navigate the drive just fine, all installed files from before the update are still there.

Tried uninstalling, this removes the stuff under User/xxxxxx (also the desktop icon) but keep the files on my FS drive.

But re-install is simply impossible. Store won't coöperate with me (LOL)....

After trying everything what i could find the get back on track didn't work, i'm stull stuck in the store with the message: Somehting happend on our end.

I could use some usefull tips to get out of this mess.

Update: Managed to get the install going.

Problems: MS Store kept on trowing errors "something happened on our end" together with an error 08xxxx in the details.
Found lots of the same errors for the store and quite a bit solutions, nothing worked.

Found that i could access my FS drive 100%, i could move and copy files but i could not for instance format the drive (amongst other things). Always a message about the drive being in use.

Problem: i had set a manual pagefile to that drive. The moment i removed it, i had full access again.

MS Store still threw op the same error. After again doing some magic stuff (like disabling/enabling updates, store, account, found on the net, not by myself) through CMD and Powershell, the store stopped trowing the error "something happened on our end" but instead the download progress kept circling. It did put a few files on the drive and that was that, it always hung there.

Again started a search after why it did do that and came across a problem where someone had the same problem (not MSFS but another program) and used the XBox app the install.
So i loaded XBox app instead of the Store and hopla, download started and installation is in progress.

MS needs to get this Store/XBox thing sorted out, 9 out of 10 (for me) updates/installing work through the Store but not all the time. When i installed Windows 10 on my new PC a few days ago, i installed FS2020 through the Store, not the XBox app. Then why oh why i need to go through the XBox app now and the Store simply doesn't let me install but coming with an error like "something happened on our end"? This way it's hard to find what exactly the cause is.

Update:
- Game installed fine (on new formatted drive, took 2hrs and 45 min), on first auto run after installation game hangs again at the same point it did after the little update it downloaded this morning: Task Manager: Microsoft Flight Simulator: Not responding. End task through manager.
- On restart: message MSFS: Your last session ended unexpectedly. Safe Mode or Normal Mode continue. I went for Normal since there is nothing 3th party installed and all drivers are up to date. Same thing, MSFS hangs on the same spot.
- Continue Restart in Safe Mode: didn't work this morning, doesn't work now either. Hangs again on the same spot, Canada New Activities...

Now what?

Update:
Loaded the game one more time and on the same spot as before the game went into a non responding state (according to Task Manager).
But this time i needed to do something else quickly so i left the game loading doing nothing. When i came back to the computer, much to my amazement, the sim presented itself in the main menu. What....?
Took a little flight of a few minutes, everything worked so quit en reload and again the went into non responding state at the same point. This time i waited in front of the computer and around 6 minutes later the progress bar jumped directly to the end and i was in the main menu.
Tried a few times, worked every time.

Next: what makes the game hang and loading so long (the first 85% or so go very quickly, it's installed on a Samsung NVMe 980 Pro) and this only started after the new small update that installed this morning. Also, after uninstalling, formatting the drive and re-installing from scratch (nothing extra installed, just plain FS 2020), the same thing happens. Why?
