Interaction with new AIG models - landing lights

Featured Replies

The new AIG models, A330's and DHC8's have all of their lights embedded in the model with custom .fx files.

The models are great but the landing lights are not visible from any distance when viewing the aircraft on final approach unlike all the other models where AILRP installs its own custom entry in the [LIGHTS] section in the aircraft.cfg file which controls the visibility of the landing lights from distance as well as is possible in P3Dv4.5 HF3.

The stock AIG models have no entries in the [LIGHTS] section, so I have mapped the positions of the landing lights in the models to make an entry for them as landing lights in the [LIGHTS] section. However, when AILRP processes this aircraft.cfg it still makes no difference to the visibility of the landing lights in the sim on approach either in the sim or in the AILRP Preview Mode.

Is there anything else I could try (other than stick with the TFS versions of the Dash 8!)

Regards

P3D V4 only allows replacing landing lights textures. And if AIGM did custom effects that technique will not work due to limitations of the SDK with V4.

With P3D V5 latest version this limitations are not present and better landing lights are possible to be installed for all AI models.

Your options are to either ask AIG to create these models as per P3D V4 SDK or upgrade to P3D V5.. not much I can do from my side.

Best,

S.

If i were to add duplicate landing lights in the [LIGHTS] section of the aircraft.cfg using standard P3d textures (eg landing,fx), should AIRLP pick these up and convert them or does it detect that there is a duplicate light in the model in the same position and ignore it?

Also wondered whether the AIG Aircraft.cfg file was AIRLP "compliant" and whether that might be causing an issue as when I entered a landing light in the aircraft.cfg, AIRLP seemed to ignore it.

Request AIGM to use landing lights as PER SDK, is the only way my solution can work... specially with P3D 4.5
