On October 15, 2022, Flight ET-3717, operated by an ET-ALO registered Ethiopian Airlines freighter Boeing 767-300, began its journey from Liege, Belgium, and was en route to Addis Ababa.,
. However, following its passage from Croatian airspace, where it was in contact with the Zagreb Center, radio contact with the aircraft was lost. Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET-3717 was intercepted by a fighter plane while flying over Greece after losing radio contact with multiple air traffic control centers for more than an hour.

After the interception, the crew responded to the communication with the Athens Center. The plane then proceeded
upon landing at their destination in Addis Ababa with no further incidents recorded.

No official cause has been reported regarding the long period of radio silence, and Ethiopian Airlines has not yet released an official statement.
