October 20, 20223 yr I've recently returned to the FSX-SE PMDG 737-800NGX after flying the DC6 for a couple of years so I thought I'd go thru the tutorial again. After programming the FMC with a similar course from EGKK to EHAM using the current AIRAC and making the other settings suggested in the tutorial, the Autothrottle refused to ARM. What error situation might be causing the problem? so I flew a round robin from KMWH using the FMC to try to duplicate the problem and I had a few minor problems. I armed the autothrottle and selected VNAV and LNAV and started my takeoff roll, but the autothrottle kicked off. I was able to reset it when I engaged the autopilot and the rest of the flight went smoothly. Ideas? Thanks, Jim Driskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)

October 20, 20223 yr Author Yep. I think the problem is with my throttles. I use FSUIPC. I found a reference that mentions that throttles need to be in idle before arming the autothrottle. I probably need to re-calibrate my throttles to ensure an adequate idle setting. Jim Driskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
October 21, 20223 yr Author Problem solved. Throttles in idle were probably slightly in reverse. My CH Throttle Quad is about 15 years old and the pots are probably out of spec. Time for a new one. Jim Driskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
